      <image:title>About</image:title>
<image:caption>Hi, I’m Scot! I’m a Principal Graphic Designer and I thrive in environments that challenge me creatively, allow me to mentor, and encourage ongoing growth and learning. I have worked with WDI for 22 years, and one of the best parts about this job is that I’ve been able to play an integral part on projects ranging from long-term design initiatives to thoughtfully addressing fast-paced, everyday operational needs. This unique perspective has made me confident in my ability to effectively partner and execute on point design through collaboration to meet the needs of the client. The exciting and ever-changing world of design combined with collaborating with a team of other talented designers is where I truly feel I belong. I design with intention, set goals, and create and assess budgets and scope. I lead by example and constantly look forward to seeing where my next inspiration will come from. I look forward to meeting you! I’ll be the guy with a smile on my face and a sketch book in my hand. Please reach out at Scotmoss65@gmail.com.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Alien Pizza Planet - Alien Pizza Planet</image:title>
<image:caption>Alien Pizza Planet is the result of a test done for the Pixar Fest celebration. Our local WDI team of art directors, graphic designers and lighting designers partnered with Pixar’s Roger Gould and team to develop the concept further. By working back and forth weekly with Pixar, we were able to not only meet their expectations but surpass them. The ultimate concept was based on the world of Toy Story so the scale, proportions and even placement needed to reflect that. The sign face is a multi-level vacuum formed panel with a 12” deep cabinet and soft edges like a toy. As the creative leader of the graphics team, it is one of my joys to develop design solutions by way of mentoring junior designers through every step of the process. I mentored Stacy Coleman through the Alien Pizza Planet marquee and photo opportunity project, which involved daily check-ins for direction and sketch sessions to develop the design. As the Principal, I developed the design to keep focus on guest experience of the Pixar brand, produce the technical contract documents, and ultimately provide close direction during fabrication supervision and art direction.</image:caption>

<image:title>Disney Junior - Disney Theater hosting Disney Junior</image:title>
<image:caption>On opening day, this facility was a restaurant with a gift shop attached and was operated with a podium and a Maitre D’. As the facility evolved into Playhouse Disney, the operators had issues with guests entering through the exit. This was because the gift shop was a separate entrance from the restaurant. During the renovation, the interior was addressed for function, but the exterior was left alone, leaving what appeared to be two entrances as the doors were exactly the same. When Disney rebranded Playhouse Disney to Disney Junior, this facility needed a major update. To address the flow of the facility and make a celebratory statement, I pitched a concept for a Grand Old Theater with a Disney twist. This included chase lights and, most importantly, a canopy over the actual entrance that features a changeable traditional backlit track panel that literally marquees the entrance. What this new facade and marquee creates is flexible opportunity. Opportunity to quickly change the event in the theater. As children’s programming changes, they can be easily updated with a single panel. In addition, panels can be removed for private events, becoming a revenue generator. The redesign of this facility afforded me many opportunities and challenges for design problem solving that included: Designing a blade marquee that established visibility from both ends of the street. Converting fire doors to appear as glazed doors. Continuity of design even down to the door handles. Collaborating with a very talented lighting designer to create not one animated light pattern but 26 tradition vintage theater light patterns to entertain our guests.</image:caption>

<image:title>Lamplight Lounge - Lamplight Lounge Located in Pixar Pier</image:title>
<image:caption>Welcome to Lamplight Lounge! A gathering place, along with the art of culinary, celebrates the creativity, inspirations, and personalities of the artists and storytellers who help to bring Pixar stories to life. Lamplight Lounge was a true Pixar branded experience full of art and story that would allow us to create a story with signage and graphics in fun and unique ways. Our scope of work included the code signage, some show signs and a 24’ tall chandelier full of sketches from Pixar. As the creative leader of the graphics team, it is one of my joys to develop design solutions by way of mentoring junior designers through every step of the process. For this project, I mentored a visiting Graphic Designer from our main office in Glendale, showing her how to take a project from concept through installation. I mentored her through the Lamplight Lounge project, which involved daily check ins, on site mock-ups, developing contract documents, vendor reviews and installation. As the Principal, I influence the development of the design to keep focus on guest experience of the Pixar brand as well as constructability and ultimately provide close direction during fabrication supervision and art direction. The Chandelier was a collaboration between the DCA Art Director, Senior Lighting Designer and myself. Charlie created the chandelier concept, Kristie designed the central structure and lights, and I designed how the art was going to be produced, attached and the materiality of the images. By partnering with Roger Gould’s team at Pixar, we were able to obtain a wide variety of early sketches for many Pixar films. To display the art, I designed a binder clip and rod method of attachment. Because the Lighting Designer and I had intimate knowledge with the assembly and it required artistic interpretation to bend and assemble, she and I spent a week installing each and every one of the images, rods, safety cable and lights onto the central column.</image:caption>
